# Templates

Create a template when you often reuse the same account, category, amount, or note.

## Create a Template

1. Open **Templates**. If it is not available, enable it in **Home Shortcuts** or **Tabs**.
2. Tap **+** at the top right.
3. Pre-fill the record type, account, book, category, amount, or note.
4. Save the template.

## Use a Template

1. Choose a template from the list.
2. Check the amount, account, and date for this record.
3. Change any other fields as needed.
4. Tap **Save** at the bottom right of the number pad to create the record.

{% hint style="info" %}
A template does not create records automatically. To create records on fixed dates, use [Recurring Records](/recurring-records/recurring.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.daak2.com/records/templates.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
